I waited over a year to watch Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. First-day IMAX tickets. Months of anticipation. One of my most anticipated films in years. But this isn't a movie review. It's about the one thing I believe every great filmmaker must do: Make the audience care. From a director's perspective, I share why The Odyssey left me emotionally disconnected despite its incredible visuals, and why I think spectacle can never replace emotional investment.
