Credit controlling area is the unit that governs credit limits and credit checks for one or more company codes. It sets the currency in which credit exposure is monitored, the risk category logic, and the overall credit limit for customers. Company codes assigned to a credit controlling area must share the same operational chart of accounts and fiscal year variant. During customer credit checks in SD, the system reads the credit controlling area assigned to the company code, evaluates the customer’s credit master data, compares open items and open sales values against the credit limit, and decides whether to block or allow the transaction.
