SHE WAS GIVEN AUTHORITY

They sent Loki’s daughter away. Then *Odin gave her authority over a realm.* 🖤 *SHE WAS GIVEN AUTHORITY* is an epic *Loki song* exploring **Hel, Loki’s daughter, the realm of Hel, the Norse afterlife, and the authority given to her in the Eddic tradition**. In the *Prose Edda*, Odin sends Hel to the world associated with Niflheim and gives her authority over those sent to her—particularly those who die from sickness or old age. That detail matters. Hel is not simply lurking beneath the roots as some monstrous embodiment of death. She has a domain. She receives the dead sent to her. And she has **authority there**. From Loki’s perspective, there is also one wonderfully inconvenient detail: The daughter the gods cast away became someone they could not simply ignore. *She was given authority.* 🔥 Subscribe to *Loki’s Echoes* for more Loki, Hel, the Eddas, Norse mythology, Norse Paganism, Heathenry, and source-focused stories of the Old Gods. #Hel #loki #NorseAfterlife #proseedda #norsemythology #norsepagan #heathenry
