Sometimes, I think Professor Guy McPherson is at least partly right about his prophecy that we humans will, by and by, become an extinct species on account of accelerating climate change. Being a sunshiny Saturday in late March the crowds are out. These are divided into two groups 1 The serious shoppers 2 The window shoppers and those out for a stroll. At this time the country is suffering a serious petroleum shortage because the Strait of Hormuz is closed to most, but not all, traffic. Those Iranians are choosy about who they let through. Being a small and insignificant nation Sri Lanka relies on the goodwill of sundry third parties. It seems to me that the answer to Sri Lanka's energy shortages is more use of solar panels. In the North of this island; the climate there is dry and state solar parks on a huge scale might just be the ticket.
