I Played Stationeers for the First Time (And It Was Brutal)

I've never played Stationeers and frankly have been afraid to. BUT I finally took the plunge and tried it. Can I survive Stationeers on the hardest setting as a total beginner noob? It's reputation is notoriously unforgiving, especially when you start with nothing on the harsh surface of the red planet. My goal was simple: mine resources, build a functioning base, and keep myself alive long enough to breathe.
