2026, September 10 | Burnaby Lake Recreation Centre Major Update | Sneak Peek Inside

Hi all, in this video I’m taking you above and inside the Burnaby Lake Recreation Centre construction site in Burnaby, BC. This update includes a drone flyover of the full project site, plus a rare sneak peek inside the building as construction continues. The City of Burnaby says the project is currently in the construction phase from 2025 to 2028, with opening to the public planned for 2028. The new facility is planned to include a 50-metre pool with 10 lanes, diving tower and boards, a combined leisure and 25-metre pool, an NHL-sized arena, parking, multi-use pathways, universal washrooms, public art, and the Burnaby Sports Hall of Fame. According to the City’s project update, construction passed the 50% milestone earlier in 2026, with work continuing on the building structure, leisure pool walls, backfilling, waterproofing, parkade ductwork, and sprinkler installation. This is one of Burnaby’s major recreation projects, and it is really starting to take shape from above and inside.
