Combat on the Volturno - Oct. 25th, 1943 | Call of Duty Pt. 32 | (United Fronts Mod)

October 25th, 1943 - Just over a month after landing at Salerno, the US 5th Army has been slogging its way through Italy. Taking advantage of the local terrain, the Germans have dug in along strong defensive lines snaking across the peninsula, bleeding the Allies for every inch of ground. Having crossed the Volturno River on the night of October 12th, Sgt Bradock's and his squad, now under Lt. Hunter, have been tasked with patrolling the perimeter of a small town. Here, the 3rd Infantry has established a command post. Combat in the area has been intense, as the Germans conduct a fighting retreat to the Barbara Line. So far, Italy has been anything but the "soft underbelly of Europe" that Churchill predicted it would be. For Bradocks and his boys, it'll be a miracle if they live to see Rome. Alright, another one down! Let's see if I can keep this pace up and not disappear for another 7 months. Here we have another Italian mission, as always part of the United Fronts Mod, which combines CoD 1, UO and a ton of custom modded missions together into one massive campaign, with updates to weapons, sounds, textures, numerous quality of life tweaks and changes, etc. Check out their ModDB page for a more comprehensive description, links included below. Other than the usual editing out of deaths and the many, many sections where I got lost (blind first time playthroughs with no HUD are not the best idea when recording for YouTube!), I really only made one change - but it is a major one - I did some voice acting! Yeah, this mission has no actual voice lines, it's all text subtitles. I got it in my head to try reading the lines and giving the characters voices. Honestly can't believe I went through with it.
