Airplane camping to see a total eclipse! Piper Vagabond PA17 and more!

On August 12th 2026, for the first time in many years, we could witness a total solar eclipse in the Iberian Peninsula. After some planning, we decided to fly to Astorga Airfield (LEAT), in Spain, which was in an area that would have over 2 minutes of Totality! We gathered friends from Aeroclube de Viseu, 5 airplanes, food and camping gear, and flew to witness this unique event and enjoy a wonderful night of Airplane camping!
