Rosedale | Spaunton Moor | Rudland Rigg

A fabulous scenic XC ride on the North Yorkshire Moors starting at Rosedale and doing part of a loop along the old Rosedale Railway. The ride then heads onto Rosedale Abbey, climbs up onto Spaunton Moor before descending into Lastingham before heading onto Hutton-le-Hole and Gillamoor and up onto Rudland Rigg. The final part of the ride drops into Farndale before the tough climb up Blakey Bank to finish the ride. There is also a large car park at the Lion Inn, however this can get very busy during good weather and at weekends. Both the small car park and Lion Inn are situated on the road from Castleton to Hutton-le-Hole, thus allowing easy access from the A171 (Guisborough to Whitby road) and the A170 (Kirkbymoorside to Pickering road). Post ride, drinks and food are available at the Lion Inn plus there are cafes, shops and pubs in nearby Castleton, Kirkbymoorside and Pickering while Helmsley is not too far away.
