On December 26, 1944, the Sherman tank Cobra King broke through German lines and made contact with the 101st Airborne at Bastogne, creating one of the most famous moments of the Battle of the Bulge. But a tank crossing the perimeter did not yet mean Bastogne had a safe lifeline. This WWII documentary follows the brutal fight through Assenois as the 4th Armored Division, Creighton Abrams, Charles Boggess, James R. Hendrix, and exhausted American infantry fought to secure the narrow corridor behind the breakthrough. Only when supply trucks could enter and wounded soldiers could finally be evacuated did Patton’s breakthrough become a functioning two-way road of survival.
