My current live setup consists of the Octatrack, Tonverk, Analog Rytm, and Digitone II. I route selected parts of the Tonverk and the Analog Rytm into the Octatrack, while each machine’s main outputs also have their own dedicated channels on the mixer. The Octatrack acts as the master clock and sends MIDI Program Change messages to the other machines. Recently, I started using pattern chains together with Program Change messages, which has made my live workflow much smoother. Instead of manually changing patterns on every machine, I can let the Octatrack handle the transitions and focus more on jamming. For example, if I want to move into a break or buildup section, I trigger the corresponding pattern on the Octatrack. This sends a Program Change message to the Analog Rytm, Digitone II, and Tonverk, causing them to switch to their assigned matching patterns at the next pattern boundary. This allows me to change the mood of the entire setup with a single action, rather than muting parts manually or trying to switch patterns on multiple devices at once. Instagram: Thommycoconut
