SUEÑO Y FANTASÍA de DANIEL MILANO MAYORA (1963) Jesús “Chucho” Sanoja (1926-1998) fué un prominente músico, pianista, compositor, arreglista y director venezolano. Sanoja dejó legado de altísima calidad, innovación en estilo, orquestación y difusión de la música bailable, único en Venezuela y Latinoamérica. Sus orquestas estuvieron siempre en los mejores escenarios y medios de comunicación venezolanos, alternando con importantes artistas latinoamericanos como Tito Rodríguez, Tito Puente, entre muchos otros connotados de la era. Daniel Milano Mayora (1926-2017) formó parte de la plantilla de la Orquesta de Chucho Sanoja como saxofonista lider, entre finales de la década de 1950 hasta principios de la década de 1960, con el saxofón contralto, la mayoría del tiempo. Sanoja y Milano cultivaron una fecunda amistad de por vida, que le valió a Milano la posibilidad de proponer composiciones y arreglos originales para la Orquesta de Chucho Sanoja. De esa sincera dupla queda documentado el Bolero “Sueño y Fantasía” que Milano tuvo la oportunidad de arreglar y grabar como saxofonista lider con la orquesta de Sanoja para el disco “Mosaico del 64” elaborado en 1963 (muy probablemente en los estudios de Radio Continente) en Caracas Venezuela bajo su propio sello disquero (Sanoja), en la voz de Norberto Segundo Pirela García (1935- 1979) mejor conocido como Héctor Barinas, nombre artístico creación de Chucho Sanoja. Norberto Segundo Pirela García es el autor de la letra de la famosa gaita marabina “Sentir Zuliano” con música de José “Joseito" Rodríguez (famoso percusionista de la agrupación de salsa venezolana La Dimensión Latina) y que inmortalizara el "Colosal" Ricardo Cepeda junto al conjunto Cardenales del Éxito en 1972. El arreglo de Sueño y Fantasía presenta un interesante “soli” de la sección de saxofones en la repetición del primer período de la estrofa, recurso recurrente adoptado en la época de oro del bolero latinoamericano. Sanoja left a legacy of innovation in style, orchestration, and the dissemination of dance music that was unique in Venezuela and Latin America. His orchestras performed at the most important public and private dance halls—both in the capital and the regions—as well as on radio and television and at major hotel chains, often sharing the stage with orchestras led by renowned Latin American artists such as Tito Rodríguez and Tito Puente, among many other luminaries of the era. Sanoja consistently pursued quality and excellence in dance music without sacrificing the spontaneity inherent to popular music; this approach set him apart from—and elevated him above—the prevailing standards of the time regarding dance music (represented by figures such as Billo, Luis Alfonzo Larrain, and Aldemaro Romero, among others). Daniel Milano Mayora (1926–2017) was a member of Chucho Sanoja’s orchestra, serving as lead saxophonist—primarily on the alto saxophone—from the late 1950s through the early 1960s. Sanoja and Milano cultivated a fruitful lifelong friendship, which gave Milano the opportunity to propose original compositions and arrangements for Chucho Sanoja’s orchestra. A testament to this genuine partnership is the bolero "Sueño y Fantasía," which Milano arranged and recorded as lead saxophonist with Sanoja’s orchestra for the album *Mosaico del 64*. Produced in 1963—most likely at the Radio Continente studios in Caracas, Venezuela—under Sanoja’s own record label, the track features vocals by Norberto Segundo Pirela García (1935–1979), better known by the stage name Héctor Barinas—a moniker created by Chucho Sanoja. Norberto Segundo Pirela García wrote the lyrics to the famous gaita marabina "Sentir Zuliano"—set to music by José "Joseito" Rodríguez (a renowned percussionist with the Venezuelan salsa group La Dimensión Latina)—which was immortalized by the "Colossal" Ricardo Cepeda alongside the ensemble Cardenales del Éxito in 1972.
