The FBI vs Oatpur: Statue of Liberty Bombing | The FBI Files | S6 E16

Decades before 9-11, a shadow war hit U.S. soil. The FBI faced a ruthless Croatian faction willing to bomb symbols of freedom to force the world to listen. From a brazen 1977 takeover at the Yugoslav UN mission to chilling extortion letters routed through Paraguay, this episode follows agents as they connect book bombs mailed from Ohio, failed devices at the UN and Grand Central, and an explosion inside the Statue of Liberty’s museum. Watch how a single informant cracks a tight-knit cell, a basement wiretap nearly implodes thanks to a pinball machine, and a planned rifle hit on writer Pero Vucas forces a desperate race against time. When agents tail a van toward a gala packed with 300 guests, the investigation pivots from evidence gathering to averting catastrophe. What they seize next changes everything—and sets up the first use of RICO against a U.S.-based terror network. See how patient surveillance, cultural fluency, and one courageous cooperator dismantled Oatpur before more lives were lost. Watch to the end to learn how the case finally came together—and why it still matters today. #TheFBIFiles #FBI #Counterterrorism #StatueOfLiberty #TrueCrime #Documentary #History
