Why do some creative ideas seem to arrive in the middle of the night—and why do certain ones feel too important to ignore? After waking around 4 a.m. with a strong urge to redesign several book covers, I started wondering whether these early-morning ideas are simply subconscious processing, creative intuition, or what some people describe as spiritual downloads. In this episode of Author’s Notes with Lula Starling, I’m exploring the connection between creativity, intuition, spiritual belief, and the ideas that seem to arrive when everything else gets quiet. The experience also happened just after I asked readers what makes them stop and notice a book. Their responses brought me back to something I already know as both an author and a reader: a cover can make you pick up a book, but the story still has to make you keep it. So was my brain simply continuing yesterday’s conversation while I slept? Maybe. But does that automatically rule out intuition or spiritual guidance? That’s the question. We’re also talking about: • Why ideas sometimes appear during sleep or quiet moments • The spiritual significance some people associate with 3 a.m. • Creative intuition versus subconscious processing • Why certain ideas feel more urgent than ordinary thoughts • Recognizing patterns in your own creative process • What happens when you actually act on an idea that keeps returning I want to hear your experience too. When do your strongest ideas usually come to you? Have you ever had an idea wake you up—and did you act on it? Leave your experience in the comments. 🎧 Listen to Author’s Notes with Lula Starling on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3gp4QKU...
