You can get on APRS with a Baofeng UV-5R, the phone in your pocket and one audio cable. Get APRS Connect: https://aprsconnect.com/get/94cfj2 No TNC and no APRS radio needed. In this video I plug a UV-5R into my phone, set up the app and send a beacon. The cable carries audio between the phone and the radio and keys the radio for you. The app does the rest: it turns your packets into the tones APRS uses and decodes what the radio hears.
