This month's Go Gardening Show brings you some great information about landscape planning in the fall, and most importantly, some great native grasses and plants to consider in upgrading your yard to a colorful, low-water using landscape. First up...San Antonio Water System Planner Cleve Powell took us to Phil Hardberger Park (west) to take a look at native grasses used in the savannah restoration project there because they will also fit perfectly in your landscape. Cleve owns a wealth of information about these plants and you will definitely enjoy his discussion with our host Mark Peterson about using native grasses in various landscape settings. ​Next, the Go Gardening crew visited one of our favorite places, Rainbow Gardens on Bandera Road, to check out some more fall planting ideas. One other aspect of revitalizing your landscape is using native plants to attract nature's pollinators such as butterflies, birds and bees. Rainbow Gardens has their very own Pollinator Garden that was in full bloom during our visit. You'll learn a lot from this segment but also be amazed at the colors we captured. ​Go Gardening's mission is to help people conserve water in the Edwards and Trinity Aquifers by teaching homeowners how to convert turfgrass areas to low-to-no water use landscapes featuring native plants.
