In this televised (YLE Finland) concert recording from 1993, an 11-year-old Stefan Stanciu performs with his bass pan flute. At that time, he had been studying the pan flute for about three years under the guidance of his father and teacher, Constantin Stanciu. In his early years, Stefan recorded several music albums. Since then, he has released numerous albums and performed at hundreds of concerts throughout his ongoing musical career. For more information, visit WWW.STEFAN.FI Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “Vocalise,” Op. 34 No. 14, is a wordless song composed in 1915 as the last piece in his collection 14 Songs (or 14 Romances), Op. 34. “Vocalise” was written for high voice (soprano or tenor) and piano, with the melody sung entirely on a single vowel chosen by the performer instead of any text. Rachmaninoff dedicated it to the famous Russian soprano Antonina Nezhdanova, trusting that her voice could express everything without words. Although it belongs to a song cycle, “Vocalise” quickly became more famous than the other 13 songs and is often performed on its own in concerts. Rachmaninoff originally wrote it in C-sharp minor, but it is often transposed so that different singers and instruments can perform it comfortably. He also made his own arrangements for voice and orchestra and for orchestra alone, and since then countless other arrangements have appeared. #panflute #panpipe #panflöte #flute #finnishmusic #panhuilu #youngartist #vocalise #rachmaninoff #rachmaninov #tvconcert
