I talk about my relationship with my mother, the things I experienced growing up, and how her relationships with the people who worked for her affected our family. There were moments where it felt like the opinions, feelings, and loyalty of her workers carried more weight than those of her own children and the impact of that was much deeper than I think she ever understood. This isn’t about trying to paint anyone as a villain. It’s about telling my story, acknowledging the hurt, and talking honestly about the complicated reality of choosing yourself after years of feeling unheard, dismissed, or betrayed. Going no contact isn’t always about hate. Sometimes it’s about finally accepting that love alone cannot make an unhealthy relationship safe.
