When a virtual application fails, where is the root cause? It could be the guest, the hypervisor, the network, the storage, or the physical host underneath it all. This lesson gives you the full framework for finding out.
We start with the hardware bottleneck and the move away from physical limits, then map out the virtualization layers that make up the stack. We look at network and security beyond the perimeter, including east-west traffic, then dig into contention and sprawl as sources of hidden complexity. We finish by diagnosing the stack end to end: document the issue, research, hypothesize, test, and either close or repeat until you have the root cause.
In this lesson:
The layers of a virtualized system
Network and security issues inside the data center
How contention and sprawl create hidden problems
A step-by-step diagnostic loop
Finding root cause instead of chasing symptoms
