Most older adults want to stay in their own homes as they age. It is where they feel comfortable, where they have made memories, and where they want to remain as independent as possible. But for their families, there is often a lingering concern about their safety.
In this episode of Senior Care Insights, I sit down with Jackie Hess, founder of Michigan Senior Care Specialists and StayHome Solutions, to talk about how families can help their aging loved ones stay safe at home while maintaining their independence.
Jackie has an extensive background in healthcare, including hospice, wound care, and specialty pharmacy. Through her work with families, she saw a need for better solutions to help older adults remain in their homes.
One of the things that makes StayHome Solutions interesting is its use of passive monitoring technology. Unlike traditional monitoring systems, it does not require cameras or wearable devices. This gives families another option to consider when they are concerned about an aging loved one.
We talk about what aging in place really means, how this technology works, why privacy matters, and what families should think about when deciding how best to support an aging parent.
If you have a parent or loved one who wants to continue living at home, I encourage you to watch this conversation. It may introduce you to options you have not considered.
