The Losi NASCAR VTA build is getting some SERIOUS upgrades! 🔧🏁
After installing the brushless power system and working through steering issues in Part 3, it’s time to tackle one of the biggest limitations of the Losi NASCAR platform: suspension adjustability and chassis setup.
Welcome to Part 4 of the Losi NASCAR VTA Build, where we’re upgrading the suspension, adding adjustable camber and toe links, and installing a lightweight driveshaft to take another step toward turning this NASCAR chassis into a capable Vintage Trans-Am-inspired race car.
This time, we’re installing Injora shocks, Losi adjustable camber and toe links front and rear, and a Losi lightweight driveshaft.
The goal isn’t just to bolt on shiny new parts. It’s to give us more control over how this car handles on the track.
🔧 In this episode:
Installing upgraded Injora shocks
Comparing the new shocks with the previous setup
Installing Losi adjustable front camber links
Adding adjustable toe links
Upgrading the rear suspension links
Understanding camber and toe adjustments
Installing the Losi lightweight driveshaft
Discussing rotating weight and drivetrain efficiency
Improving chassis adjustability
Preparing the VTA Camaro for more serious carpet racing
Planning our next round of setup and testing
🏎️ WHY THESE UPGRADES MATTER
One of the challenges with converting the Losi NASCAR into a VTA-style car is working around the limitations of the original platform.
The brushless motor gave us the power, but power alone doesn’t make a fast race car.
We need steering response, predictable weight transfer, consistent suspension behavior, and the ability to actually tune the chassis for different track conditions.
Adjustable camber and toe give us more control over wheel alignment and how the car responds through corners.
Upgraded shocks give us another opportunity to work on suspension control and consistency.
And the lightweight driveshaft is another step toward refining the drivetrain.
Will all these upgrades finally get our VTA Camaro handling the way we want?
That’s what we’re working toward.
🏁 THE LOSI NASCAR VTA BUILD SERIES
Part 1: Bodywork, shocks and tires
Part 2: Going brushless! ⚡
Part 3: Diagnosing the steering problems
Part 4: Suspension, alignment and drivetrain upgrades 🔧
Coming up: Getting the setup dialed in and putting the car to work on the track!
This entire project is about experimenting, learning, and seeing what can actually be accomplished with the Losi NASCAR platform.
Some things work. Some things don’t. And sometimes the best part is figuring out why.
💬 WHAT WOULD YOU UPGRADE NEXT?
If you were building a Losi NASCAR for VTA-style carpet racing, what would you focus on next?
More steering? Different springs? Differential tuning? Tires? Something completely different?
