Heard so much about Lombok being like Bali 20 years ago—untouched by over-development and commercialization—so a group of us decided to head out for a surf trip. For our first session, we spent the afternoon exploring different spots. By the time we hit the harbor, it was already past 4 PM. We randomly hired a local boatman who told us the outside was too blown out and messy, so he took us to Gerupuk Inside instead. Turns out, the place was absolutely packed. The lineup was a mix of advanced surfers, complete beginners, and a massive crowd of local surf schools, which made things pretty frustrating. Honestly, the overall experience wasn’t great. I only managed to catch one decent wave, spent the rest of the time constantly getting blocked and dropped in on 😂. But that’s surfing for you—things rarely go as planned.
