What’s really underground in South Dakota? In this adventure, we’re heading beneath the Black Hills to explore two incredible cave systems, Jewel Cave National Monument and Wind Cave National Park. Our first stop is Jewel Cave, where we take the Scenic Tour and head deep underground to see some of the formations that make this one of the longest known cave systems in the world. Then we make our way to Wind Cave National Park, home to one of the world’s longest and most complex caves. We explore the cave on a ranger-led tour and also visit the small natural entrance, a place with deep cultural and spiritual significance in the Lakota Emergence Story. Jewel Cave and Wind Cave are located just a short drive apart, but once you head underground, they offer two completely different experiences. If you're planning a trip to the Black Hills or enjoy exploring national parks and unique places, come along with us as we discover what’s underground in South Dakota! https://www.nps.gov/wica/learn/nature...
