Have you ever prayed:
"God, can you PLEASE just fix this?"
I did.
After months of feeling stretched and expanded, another issue involving my son came up, and I found myself lying in bed thinking:
"Why is this another thing I have to figure out?"
"Why is this on MY plate?"
"Can I get a little help here?"
And the answer I felt was pretty clear:
These aren't your things to figure out. These are things you're meant to guide your son through.
Oof.
That changed the entire conversation.
In this episode, we're talking about:
Why problems can actually be opportunities for growth
The difference between helping someone and rescuing them
Parenting as your children become young adults
Why good mentors guide instead of solve
What unanswered prayers can teach us
Why getting exactly what you prayed for could sometimes cause you to miss the growth
Changing your perspective without falling into toxic positivity
Allowing yourself to feel sadness without staying there
Letting joy interrupt your sadness
And one of the biggest reminders:
Sometimes things do suck.
You don't have to pretend they don't.
But you also don't have to hang out in that space any longer than you choose to.
Sometimes the thing you're asking God to take away is the very experience that's teaching you how to become the person you've been asking Him to help you become.
