You know the relationship isn't right for you.
You recognize the things that aren't working, you question whether this is really the person you want to be with, and yet you keep finding reasons to stay.
Maybe you're comfortable. Maybe you're afraid of missing out on something good. Or maybe you're so attached to the person you believe they could become that you're struggling to accept who they are today.
In this episode of Cutting Through the Bullsht*, I'm answering a listener's question: How do you leave a relationship when you know the person isn't good for you?
And the answer starts with something that has very little to do with the other person.
Your relationship with yourself.
Before you can communicate honestly with someone else, you have to be willing to get honest about what you want, how you feel, and whether you're trying to force a relationship to become something it isn't.
I'm sharing stories from my own dating experiences, including the time I realized I was carrying a habit from a previous relationship into a new one. We're also talking about why defining a relationship matters, how to have mature conversations about expectations, and why being single might be exactly what you need while you figure out what you actually want.
This isn't about making someone else the villain. It's about learning to recognize when a relationship isn't the right fit and having the self-trust to decide what comes next.

The perspective shift
You don't have to prove someone is a terrible person to recognize that they're not the right person for you.
And you don't need to have another relationship waiting to justify leaving one that isn't working.
You do, however, need to be willing to look honestly at your own feelings, communicate clearly, and recognize the patterns you're carrying into your relationships.
Stop making decisions based solely on who someone might become. Start paying attention to the relationship you're actually experiencing.
