Can I Dye This $12 Kmart Jacket? (It Got Messy) | Day 6 of 31

Kia ora and welcome back to Your Good Yarn! 🧡 It's Day 6 of my video-a-day challenge and today we're getting messy — I'm dyeing a white $12 Kmart jacket orange with Rit dye in Tangerine. I don't do white (it stains the second I look at it), and orange is much more my colour, so when a friend from my local wool & fabric shop offered to dye it... why not? Fair warning: this is NOT a tutorial. It's my very first time dyeing anything, so come along for the ride as I mix up Fahrenheit and Celsius, battle with a single glove, get dye on absolutely everything (bench, shirt, hands — you name it), relocate to the wash house, and use a truly shameful amount of water. The final colour at the end wasn't quite what I expected — you'll have to watch to see how it turned out. Got tips? I'd love to know how to use LESS water next time — and anything a first-timer should've done differently. Also: can you use a dye pot for food afterwards, or is it ruined forever? Asking for me.
