Tiny House Design and Layout One of the most unique features of this home is the first-floor bedroom. Shauna chose this specific layout to ensure her dog could move around easily and to avoid the need for ladders or lofts as she gets older. By removing original headboards, she successfully integrated a queen-size bed with plenty of walk space and added a headboard with storage for plants and jewelry. The living area serves as a multi-functional hub, featuring: A day bed that doubles as a couch and secondary sleeping area. Vintage lighting and IKEA hacks, like nightstands with custom hair-pin legs. A projector screen that acts as a blackout curtain for the bedroom. Ample ventilation with upper windows that create a bright, indoor-outdoor feel. Working From Home in a Tiny Space Can you work from home in a tiny house? Shauna demonstrates her dedicated work-at-home setup, featuring a desk that fits perfectly without blocking the walkway. Her configuration includes dual monitors, proving that professional productivity is possible even in a small home. Full Kitchen and Bathroom Renovation The kitchen is the heart of this home. Shauna renovated the space for approximately $4,000, focusing on high-quality appliances and smart organization. U-Shaped Kitchen: Features a propane stove, large sink, and new faucet. Storage Solutions: Floating shelves, pull-out trash bins, and a dedicated espresso bar. Dining Area: A custom butcher block breakfast bar provides a place to eat and prep food. In the bathroom, vertical space is key. Shauna added stone display areas, a wall-mounted medicine cabinet for "potions and lotions," and a clever towel rack repurposed from shoe storage. Costs and Community Living Living in a tiny house community offers more than just a home; it provides a sense of safety and shared amenities. Purchase Price: $79,900 (down from $89,900). Lot Rent: $988 per month in San Diego. Amenities: Access to a pool, jacuzzi, and laundry facilities.
