FACES OF THE VALLEY SEASON 1 EPISODE 3: AALON PETERS

Meet Aalon Peters—the second Computer Science major featured in Faces of the Valley: Season 1. His time at USC has been filled with memorable experiences, but one thing is clear throughout his story: Aalon has a deep love for sports. Although he does not consider Computer Science to be a particularly difficult degree, he recognizes the importance of learning from those who have gone before. His advice to students entering the programme is simple: look to your peers who are ahead of you. Their experiences, knowledge, and guidance can make the journey through university much easier to navigate. Sports, particularly basketball, have also played a significant role in Aalon’s USC experience. With a sense of humor, he recalls one of his most memorable basketball moments—USC’s game against the Spartans earlier this year. He also reflects fondly on the previous basketball season, especially the opportunity to play with greater freedom under his new coach. For Aalon, that freedom made the game even more enjoyable and allowed him to express himself on the court. When it comes to academics, Aalon emphasizes that students should not overlook their general education courses. He encourages freshmen to take their general education classes just as seriously as their core courses and to work toward maintaining a strong GPA from the beginning. As students progress deeper into their degree, maintaining that GPA can become increasingly challenging. Above all, Aalon’s message to freshmen is straightforward: always do your best in everything you do. Whether in the classroom, on the court, or in other areas of university life, giving your best can make all the difference.
