Jesus & Krishna: Conversations by the River | When Two Teachers Meet
The conversation by the river continues.
After talking about love, attachment, and the stranger, Jesus and Krishna have spent enough time together for their curiosity to deepen. They have heard each other speak about God, devotion, prayer, and the Highest.
Now Krishna turns toward Jesus and asks:
“Tell me about your God.”
Jesus begins with the spiritual world from which he taught—the God of Abraham, Creator of heaven and earth, the God he called Father. He speaks of loving God with the whole heart, of prayer as relationship, and of the Kingdom of God.
Krishna pauses at one word.
“Kingdom?”
Jesus smiles. That question, he realizes, could become an entire conversation in its own right.
Then Jesus turns the question around.
Krishna has spoken of devotion, offerings, and the Highest. Jesus asks:
Who receives the flower?
Now Krishna begins opening the vast metaphysical world behind the Bhagavad Gita. He speaks of the Supreme as the source from which existence arises, present within beings and extending beyond the changing world they see around them.
Soon they discover that even familiar words contain more questions.
When Jesus says Father, Krishna wants to understand what he means.
When Krishna says Supreme, Jesus wants to understand what he means.
Creator. Father. Source. Supreme.
Each word becomes a doorway, not a conclusion.
Sitting beside the river, they begin exploring how each understands the reality toward which prayer, devotion, love, and human longing are directed. Their curiosity creates room for each teaching to unfold in its own language—and for one question to lead naturally into another.
“Tell me how you pray.”
“Tell me about your Kingdom.”
“Tell me what you mean by being within every heart.”
“Tell me what you mean when you say Father.”
There is much to ask.
🎵 This song is part of the playlist Jesus & Krishna: Conversations by the River | When Two Teachers Meet, an ongoing musical exploration inspired by the teachings of Jesus in the canonical Gospels and Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita.
The playlist begins with their first meeting beside the river and follows their conversation as they explore love, attachment, the stranger, God, identity, action, suffering, devotion, courage, death, and the questions that emerge along the way.
Each song is another conversation.
And as this one ends, Krishna turns to Jesus with the question that will carry them into the next:
“Who are you beneath your name?”
The river keeps moving.
The conversation continues.
