They were still in the air when some passengers turned on their seatback televisions—and saw their own aircraft on the news.
On September 21, 2005, JetBlue Flight 292 departed Burbank for New York. Soon after takeoff, the crew encountered a landing-gear problem. A low pass confirmed that the Airbus A320’s nose wheels were turned approximately 90 degrees to the left.
This Between Frames documentary follows the crew’s decisions, the passengers watching the coverage, the emergency landing at Los Angeles, and the hidden fatigue failure investigators found inside the nose gear. All 146 people aboard survived without injuries.
Would you watch the live coverage—or switch the screen off? Tell me in the comments.
