Building a Pole Barn Pad the RIGHT Way! (4K Drone Footage)

We are finally building our barn! In this video, we will be building a 34x44-foot pad for our 30x40 pole barn. After stripping the topsoil, we bring in roughly 200 yards of sand to raise the pad about two feet above the original grade. You’ll see the entire process of bringing in the fill, spreading it with the bulldozer, compacting it in lifts with a vibratory roller, and getting the pad graded and ready for the barn. I also use my 1953 Ford Jubilee and 6-foot box blade to cut a swale along the property line so water around the barn has somewhere to drain. The pad is finally finished, and next week the Amish crew arrives to build the actual barn. They’re going to put the entire barn up in just three days, including setting the trusses by hand!
