I've been sitting on this one since the summer, keeping it to myself and enjoying it on regular rotation. My wife and I have both loved it, and I am now ready to share it with all of you. I mentioned several months back that the frequency of my releases has slowed for a variety of reasons. While work and other significant commitments limit the amount of time I have to compose and write lyrics, I've also been waiting until I had something meaningful to write about. This time, the inspiration came following a family friend's offer to show us around a beautiful lake near Lakeside, Oregon, only accessible by pontoon. The offer was so kind, unexpected and spontaneous and the lake was beautiful and serene. It will be a memory we cherish for a very long time. The concept for this song stems from all the bitter and the sweet that make up a life. It explores various themes including the pursuit of a dream and the courage often required to see it through; navigating the unexpected; the peace, serenity and clarity that can come from solitude, but also at times the loneliness. In short, the song is about traveling through the unknown with courage and eventually finding peace amid the devastation of loss. I hope you enjoy the song as much as I do.
