I'm Keiko, 87 years old, from Okinawa. At my last checkup my doctor said my bloodwork looked like a woman in her fifties — then he asked what I eat. The answer surprised him, because it's almost boring: I've eaten the same four Okinawan foods nearly every day for 70 years. Seaweed (mozuku), bitter melon (goya), island tofu (shima-dofu), and purple sweet potato (beni imo). No variety. No superfood of the month. In this video I walk you through each one, how I actually eat it, and why I've come to believe the sameness — not the novelty — is the part most people miss. If you're over 50 and tired of complicated diets, maybe an old Okinawan woman's plate is simpler than you'd think. 🍵 In this video: 00:00 The day my doctor went quiet 01:40 Why I eat the SAME thing every day 02:40 Seaweed (mozuku) 04:00 Bitter melon (goya) 05:30 Island tofu (shima-dofu) 07:00 Purple sweet potato (beni imo) 08:20 What the doctor was really reacting to This video shares personal experience and general nutrition education from an Okinawan cultural perspective.
