Do you know the difference between 我想去 (wǒ xiǎng qù) and 我要去 (wǒ yào qù)? 🤔 They both can mean "I want to go" in English, but in Chinese, they are NOT interchangeable! In this video, I break down the real difference between 想 (xiǎng) – your inner desire – and 要 (yào) – your firm intention or plan. Learn when to use which, when they overlap, and when swapping them will make you sound unnatural (or even rude!). I also cover the super useful 想要 (xiǎng yào) combo and the most common mistakes students make. 🚀 👇 Jump to any section: 0:00 - Intro 1:30 - Core Difference: Desire vs. Intention 2:55 - "我想去" – The Desire Marker 4:04 - "我要去" – The Intention/Necessity Marker 5:04 - The "Refusal" Test (不想 vs 不要) 6:01 - When Can You Swap Them, and When Can't You? 8:03 - The "想要" Combo – What's That About? 9:23 - Common Mistakes That Give You Away 11:33 - Outro & Recap ☕️ Support my work on Ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/superred 👍 Don't forget to: ✅ Like this video if it helped clear up the confusion! ✅ Subscribe and hit the 🔔 so you never miss a lesson. #chinesegrammar #learnchinese #mandarin #hsk #chineselesson #想vs要 #chineseverbs #chineseforbeginners #chineselearning #grammarexplained #dailychinese
