On May 2, 2024, Spirit Airlines Flight 280 from Dallas landed at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Broward Sheriff's deputies met the plane after a passenger reported that a 69-year-old man reached under her skirt as she walked past his seat. He was arrested that night on one count of battery. In July 2024, he pleaded no contest, was adjudicated guilty, and was sentenced to 12 months of probation. After he failed to complete a court-ordered psychosexual evaluation, a judge revoked his probation in November 2024 and sentenced him to 180 days in Broward County Jail, with 120 days credit for time served.
