What did Jesus keep when I was throwing my life away? Everything. Except the bad stuff. He kept me alive. He kept my family. He kept my mind and gave me the ability to learn how to use it differently. He kept my determination and showed me how to turn it toward something better. He kept my ability to work, to learn, to love, and to become a different man. He kept this shell. He kept me. Jesus saw value in me when I couldn't see any value in myself. He knew what He could make out of what I had nearly destroyed. He didn't instantly make everything easy. He showed me the way, one step and one day at a time, and gave me guardrails that helped keep me on the road. Jesus kept what was valuable in me even when I had made it worthless.
