How do plants drink water? With their roots! The water travels up tiny tubes inside the stem, all the way to the leaves, like sipping through lots of little straws. Bugsy thinks plants drink with their leaves, then finds out how plants get water. Watch colour climb up a celery stick in this easy celery experiment for kids. Try it: Ask a grown-up for a stick of celery and some food colouring. Put a few drops in a glass of water and stand the celery in it. Check it the next day: the colour has climbed up the stem, all the way to the leaves! Safety: A grown-up helps with the food colouring (it can stain). Bugsy's Why Lab: short, curious science stories for kids aged 5 to 8, on the letsBug channel. Every episode ends with an experiment to try at home. Grown-ups: please help with every 'Try it' activity.
