The Making of a Handwoven Stage Curtain／手織り緞帳の制作工程

We have created a film documenting the production process of a handwoven stage curtain. The weaving is still carried out on a विशाल loom built 70 years ago by the eighth-generation craftsman, Iwajiro. Integrated into the building itself, its distinctive form is truly one of a kind. It is the last remaining wooden loom of this scale in Japan. Powered by neither electricity nor mechanical power, and producing no loud machinery noise, it stands quietly within a residential neighborhood. Every stage of the process, from weaving to final tailoring, is carried out by skilled artisans, preserving the integrity of traditional handcraft. 手織り緞帳の制作工程を映像にまとめました。制作は70年前に八代目岩次郎によって建設された、巨大な織機を今も使用しています。 建屋と一体化したその独特な姿は唯一無二のもの。木製のものでここまで巨大な織機は国内最後の一機です。 電気も動力も使いません。大きな機械音も出さないため、住宅街の中にひっそりと佇んでいます。 製織から仕立てまで全工程が職人の手による確かな手仕事です。
