It's located in Zone 3 of our residential project here on the NE coast of Sicily (USDA Zone 10a). We use only rainwater that falls on the land to irrigate 200 trees through the 5 months of Summer, which lack any significant rainfall. In the Winter, the surface runoff is harvested in ponds, as there are no roof structures present on this part of the land. In spite of the continuing drought conditions that persist in much of the Mediterranean basin, this technique provides resilience without depleting precious subsurface water resources.
