The system is likely to approach the coast around the morning of September 23. The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over Odisha as the system approaches. Orange and red alerts have been issued for several districts, with South Odisha expected to receive particularly heavy rainfall. IMD has also indicated that it is too early to confirm whether the system will intensify further into a cyclonic storm.
