It took 418 days to transform myself from a complete beginner into a Sub10.. Nee, Sub9* Ironman. This was my greatest life achievement so far and I feel honoured to have it told in such an incredible way by the one and only Iyke Zachariah 📸 Inspired by my now good friend David Zaharakis this challenge started on October 3rd 2024 where I one day found myself enthralled by this crazy long triathlon and set the lofty goal of trying to do an Ironman in under 10 hours. I quickly realised I was in over my head when I couldn't get my bike moving faster than 28km/hr and I could hardly reach the end of the pool without taking a break. But I believe that if you're goals don't scare you then they aren't big enough. As the months passed I began to build a decent engine (and got a new bike) and started to believe I could do it. Eventually I lined up at my first Ironman with an abundance confidence, and really didn't think there was any way I could fail at Cairns... I was humbled. Having realised the magnitude of this challenge I got to work. Not your typical 'I'll train harder'.. this was a generational lock in because no part of my being could endure the dissatisfaction of failing again. Not when I had so publicly share this challenge on social media. I felt like I let everyone down at Cairns. My fans, my friends, my loved ones but most importantly myself. It hurt me. As you'll see in the doco, Busso was different... It felt different and it played out perfectly. I am constantly reliving that day over and over in my head. It was the most euphoric feeling I've ever experienced. Completing the challenge contributed to that feeling but it was bigger than me by this point. Sub10 had touched so many lives and became the inspiration for so many new challenges to come. This meant everything to me now and I hope to continue inspiring the everyday athletes out there to attempt extraordinary things and set goals far above the current limitations. These kinds of things don't happen without an army of people behind the scenes.. I couldn't have done this with you Ross. I'm forever grateful for your generosity and belief in me. Daniel, you and I have a long road ahead together and I have loved every minute of my journey more, since you've been apart of it. Thank you. Garmin Australia, Live & Breathe & Carbon Mafia & Synergy Sports thank you for alll your continued support... We did it baby!! Iyke, mate, I can't believe I get to one day show my kids this video. I feel so privileged that you spent so much time and effort putting this together and I hope we can create something even more magical in Kona! - Thank you And to my ever loving parter Mae. This goal was trivial in many ways babe but it meant so much to me and you saw that. You're willingness to support me through every high & every low, every win & every loss...no matter what.. gave me the strength to keep going. I've now turned my passion into my career and I owe a big part of that to the love you've showed me. I would not be the man I am today without you and I am forever grateful to be living this beautiful life with you. I love you with all my heart. 🤍
