A haunting folk-rock ballad about forgiveness, inherited vengeance and a buried axe breaking into green, sung from a nameless town where an old blood debt is finally released.
The narrator recalls the day an axe was raised above their head in a town no map has named, carrying the shadow and face of someone who never remembered them. Now holding that same power in their hand, they refuse to serve the ledger their fathers left behind or to become the second blade designed by the past. The swing turns midair into an open hand, the roles of judge and judged fall to cold ash, and the platform where the crowd wanted blood becomes the place where a vow is spoken instead. The buried axe breaks into grass, the evil is never called good, and the narrator names themself forgiveness rather than the deed, letting the nameless town carry that pledge forward like seed.
