Let's talk about the OG. Before every brewery and their cousin started dropping "fall seasonal" beers the second Labor Day hit, Samuel Adams was already doing it — and doing it well. This is Octoberfest, a Märzen-style lager built off the 1810 Munich original when the city threw a 16-day party for Crown Prince Ludwig's wedding. Sam Adams took that tradition and ran with it, and it's been a fall staple ever since. This isn't a light, watered-down "pumpkin spice everything" cash grab. This is a hearty, amber, 5.3% ABV lager built on five malts — including their own proprietary Octoberfest malt and Caramel 60 — cold-fermented and aged a minimum of four to six weeks to build real depth. Tettnang and Hallertau Mittelfrüh noble hops keep it from getting too sweet, but make no mistake — this beer brings roasted malt, caramel, toasted bread, and a little honey sweetness front and center. It's not shy about it. Now here's where I get real with you: purists will tell you this isn't a "true" Märzen because Munich moved on to lighter Festbiers decades ago, and Sam Adams knows it too — that's why it's spelled "Octoberfest" with a C instead of a K, since "Oktoberfest" is a protected name reserved for the big Munich breweries. Fine. I don't care what the purists say. This beer built the American fall beer season as we know it, and in this video I'm going to tell you straight — does it still deserve the crown, or has the competition finally caught up and left it in the dust? Pour one, sit down, and let's find out. 🍺 Brewery: Samuel Adams (Boston Beer Company) 🍺 Style: Märzen / Octoberfest Lager 🍺 ABV: 5.3% | IBU: 16 As always — drink responsibly, know your limits, and never operate firearms or machinery after drinking. Like, subscribe, and drop a comment telling me if you think this one still holds the throne. #CraftBeer #SamuelAdams #Octoberfest #Marzen #BonesBourbonBarleyAndBrass
