SERMON/MESSAGE ON PSALM 2:10

*Psalm 2:10—"Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth.”* What does it really mean when God commands the kings to *“be wise”* and **“be warned”**? Psalm 2:10 is more than advice to political rulers. It is God's gracious warning to everyone who chooses a direction contrary to His will. The Hebrew word *הַשְׂכִּילוּ (*haśkîlû*)**, from **שָׂכַל (*śākal*)**, means more than intelligence or knowledge. It speaks of **insight, understanding, prudence, and acting wisely because we have understood correctly**. The kings of Psalm 2 were intelligent enough to make plans, alliances, and strategies, but their plans were directed against the LORD and His Anointed. Scripture therefore teaches us an important truth: **intelligence can make plans, but wisdom recognizes whether those plans agree with God's will.* The second command, **הִוָּסְרוּ (*hiwwāsĕrû*)**, from **יָסַר (*yāsar*)**, means to **accept correction, discipline, instruction, and training**. God's discipline is not merely punishment. It is intended to correct our direction and bring us back under His authority. Psalm 2:9 speaks about the *iron rod and the potter's vessel**, but immediately afterward verse 10 calls the rulers to wisdom and correction. Before judgment comes, God gives them an opportunity to change. **God shows them the consequence of rebellion and calls them to return while there is still time.* The message moves beautifully from **understanding → correction → service**: *Understand God's authority → Accept God's correction → Serve the LORD rightly.* This sermon challenges us to examine our own lives. Am I simply intelligent, or am I truly wise before God?
