“Let’s Get This Straight First” is a song about the moment when questions become personal. Sometimes we can look at someone we love and wonder where their journey will lead. We may want to explain more, convince more, or somehow hurry along something that we cannot accomplish for them. But there comes a moment when another person's faith can no longer answer the questions. They have to ask for themselves. This young woman has reached that moment. She doesn't have everything settled. She isn't making a declaration of faith. She's simply begun asking her own questions, and taking those questions directly to the One she isn't even certain she believes in yet. Perhaps there is reassurance in that. We don't always get to see what Adonai is doing in another person's heart. Seeking may begin quietly. A question may be more significant than it appears. And the person we are concerned about may someday begin a conversation with Him that we never could have started for them. Our part isn't always to have the perfect answer. Sometimes our part is to love, remain faithful, pray, and trust that He is faithful too. “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” - Matthew 7:7 “You will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”- Jeremiah 29:13 Sometimes the first evidence of seeking is simply a question.
