Diving Bird at The Detroit Riverfront

Double-crested comorant does some serious diving. The first time I ever witnessed this was earlier this year in Spring. I never noticed we had diving birds before. Ducks, geese, seagulls are what I'm so used to seeing that it blew me away to notice this dip under the surface and stay underwater for so long. From Belle Isle to the riverwalk, I've spent so much time quietly observing the water for decades and never noticed these birds. Felt like a real treat to witness and enjoy in Spring and now on Fall.
