If we’re forgiven, why do we still have to give an account to God? This video explores the difference between forgiveness, condemnation, accountability, and stewardship so you can understand why being saved by grace does not make the way you live meaningless. The Bible says there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ, yet it also says that each of us will give an account to God. At first, those truths can sound difficult to hold together. Does giving an account mean forgiven sins can still be used against us? Or does forgiveness mean our choices no longer matter? In this video, we look carefully at that tension through passages from Hebrews, Romans, First and Second Corinthians, Matthew, Luke, First Peter, First John, and Second Timothy. You’ll see why forgiveness does not mean God simply forgets what happened, but that sin is no longer held against the believer as a charge for condemnation. At the same time, Scripture still treats the way we use our time, words, responsibilities, opportunities, and influence as meaningful before God. We also look at an important distinction between belonging and stewardship. The question of whether you belong to Christ is not the same as the question of what you have done with the life and responsibilities God entrusted to you. Romans chapter fourteen also shows why giving an account to God should make us more careful about judging other believers. Each of us will answer for ourselves, not for the person next to us. And First Corinthians chapter three gives us another helpful picture: Christ is the foundation, while what we build on that foundation is what is examined. Salvation is not earned by building a perfect life, but grace does not make our choices meaningless. So the question is not simply, “Will God bring my past back against me?” A more helpful question is: “Because I have been forgiven, what am I doing with the life I have been given?” What has God entrusted to you in this season, and what are you doing with it? You do not have to share anything personal—just take a moment to reflect on that question.
