Walk Worthy of Who You Are | Live Like You’re Called | Ephesians 4:1 ‪@JBFellow‬

Your Christian walk should flow from your Christian identity. God calls us to live in a way that reflects who He has already made us in Christ. Ephesians 4:1 says: “…walk worthy of the calling with which you were called…” — Ephesians 4:1 In today’s Today in the Word devotional, Walk Worthy of Who You Are, we reach an important turning point in Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. For the opening chapters, Paul has been explaining what God has done for us in Christ. We have been chosen. Adopted. Redeemed. Forgiven. Made alive. Raised with Christ. Sealed with the Holy Spirit. Accepted in the Beloved. Then Paul turns from who we are to how we should live. He says, in effect: Because this is who God has made you, walk worthy of your calling. Christian behaviour is not meant to create our identity. It is meant to express it. We do not obey God so that He will finally decide to accept us. We obey because, through Christ, we have already been received by grace. We do not pursue holiness to manufacture a new identity. We pursue holiness because God has called us His own. That changes everything. Because of who you are in Christ: • Let your choices reflect your calling. • Let your character reflect the One who called you. • Let your relationships demonstrate grace and humility. • Let your conduct agree with your confession. • Let your private life support your public faith. • Let your identity in Christ shape the way you live every day. A worthy walk is not a perfect walk. It is a life increasingly aligned with the calling of God. It means asking: Does the way I live reflect who I say I belong to? Your calling is too significant to be treated casually. Your identity in Christ should affect how you speak, work, forgive, serve, respond, lead and love. The message is simple: Live like you’re called. Not to earn your identity. But because, in Christ, that is already who you are.
