We Had $700 and Needed $100,000: Building God's Church Against All Odds | Dag Heward-Mills

Bishop Dag Heward-Mills shares the gripping testimony of how he left a promising medical career to answer God's call to ministry, despite fierce opposition from his own family. He recalls how his father-in-law tried to intervene with the hospital authorities, and how he had to tell his concerned mother-in-law to stop questioning his decision, declaring with the Apostle Paul, 'Woe is me if I preach not the gospel' (1 Corinthians 9:16). He was fighting for his calling in every direction. He recounts the adventure of planting a church from nothing - starting in a hospital canteen surrounded by glass windows and 'No Noise' signs, sewing curtains to hide their worship, facing threats from angry medical students who vowed to meet them with 'an equal and opposite force.' When they finally found a cinema hall for sale at one hundred thousand dollars, their total funds were just seven hundred. He wrote to Christian millionaires and received nothing, held a fundraiser and raised nothing, but through faithful tithes and offerings God supernaturally provided. He challenges every believer to say yes to God's exciting adventure no matter how impossible the road appears.
