The drills and checks from this video, written out properly — The Complete Senior Table Tennis Library: https://weispinmaster.com/?b=1&v=win-...
You chop hard into the long pimples and the ball floats back and flies off the end. You hit hard and it dies in the net. It is not bad luck: when a long pimples player simply blocks or pushes, his rubber hardly grips the ball, so your own spin usually comes back to you reversed. Five simple changes for club players over sixty, with the paddle and strokes you already have:
1. Watch his paddle, not the ball: which colour touched it, the duller sound, the twiddle — and your right to look at his paddle before the match.
2. Give him nothing: the float serve and float push, and why your paddle should be less open against a pimples "chop".
3. Slow, high and deep, with patience: roll the dead ball instead of smashing it, and stop feeding the pimples heavy topspin.
4. Choose the side he plays with: deep to the pimples, to his elbow, or to his smooth rubber for an honest ball.
Final key: set up the ball that comes back — push, then roll — and what to do if your man attacks your backspin.
Plus a block for knees that won't bend low, a shoulder that complains and slower reactions, and a paddle-and-ball exercise for tonight at home.

If anything hurts — shoulder, elbow, wrist, back or knees — or your balance worries you, stop, and check with your doctor or physiotherapist before changing how you play.
Next time you face long pimples, try one ball first. Write one word in the comments: float or roll.
